Area farmers’ markets are in full swing, and not ones to miss out on full-swinging things, we’re playing at a couple of ‘em in the next couple weeks.
This Monday, July 26, we’ll hawk our wares at the Coralville Farmers’ Market. It’s held in the aquatic center parking lot in S.T. Morrison Park, right smack dab in the middle of Coralville. The address is 1513 7th St., in case you need something googlable. Our show will run from 5-7 p.m.
About a week and a half later, on Wednesday, August 4, we’ll be at the Iowa City Farmers’ Market in and around the Chauncey Swan parking ramp in downtown Iowa City (410 E. Washington St.). Once again, showtime is 5-7.
Both shows will provide not only excellent opportunities to hear CST perform, but to stock up on fresh fruits, veggies, baked goods and more. You know what they say: a stone in the hand is worth two dead birds in the bush.
Hope you’re enjoying your summer!

Tonight we’ll be playing in the Stars of Tomorrow Showcase. The showcase runs from 6:00-9:30 at S.T. Morrison Park in Coralville; we’re not sure when play, exactly, but the whole evening will be full of good music from other stars of the Play-Tone Galaxy and that special 4th of July in Coralville magic. Resort to subterfuge if necessary - we hope to see you out at the park tonight! (We are Spartacus!)

This weekend we’re playing in a friend’s wedding up in Minnesota. We get to play a great song (Storyhill’s “Highlight”) and should get to see a lot of old college friends. Should be fun.
Our last show, at the Lincoln Wine Bar, turned out to be a really good time. We didn’t quite know what to expect, as we hadn’t been there before. It’s a cool little place, though, and it was absolutely packed. I’m pretty sure they exceeded the posted maximum occupancy at least a couple different times over the course of the evening… When we first arrived, we debated whether or not to even set up the PA since it was such a small place. Good thing we did–even with the PA we had trouble hearing ourselves over the crowd!
Our next show on the calendar is the Stars of Tomorrow Showcase on Friday, July 2. It’s part of Coralville’s 4th Fest celebration. We’ll go on sometime after 6:00 to play a handful of songs for the crowd in S.T. Morrison Park. There will also be a couple recording industry bigwigs on hand, so… Well, you never know what will happen.
Have a good summer, and hopefully we’ll see you soon.

We’ll be making our first appearance at the Lincoln Wine Bar in downtown Mount Vernon. Lincoln Wine Bar is the younger sibling of the renowned Lincoln Cafe, generally considered one of the best little places to eat in all the great Midwest (and probably beyond). Just down the block from the Cafe, the Wine Bar is an intimate venue that features a nice assortment of wines (by the bottle or glass) and beers from around the globe. They also serve some tasty snacks.
We play from 7-9 pm on Friday night, and we sincerely hope you’ll join us for some wine and music.

We’re playing Mojo’s Coffeehouse, part of the River Music Experience in downtown Davenport, this Saturday night. Come on in, grab some coffee or another tasty beverage, check out the exhibits at RME, and enjoy yourself some acoustic tuneage courtesy of CST.

We’ll be in Cedar Falls on Saturday, April 24, for a show at the Lampost Theater. It’s been a few years since we last played in Cedar Falls, and we’re looking forward to getting back. If you’re in the vicinity, we hope you’ll come out and join us. Show time is 7:00 pm.

This weekend we head back to EWALU Bible Camp to lead music for the junior high Dirty Feet Retreat. We’ve done a number of these in the past and they’re always a lot of fun. We first became friends at EWALU way back in 1993 (yikes), and we enjoy the opportunity to go back and play some camp songs, just like the good ol’ days.
We have a bunch of other stuff on the calendar, too, including shows at a few places we’ve never played before. April 24 we’re at the Lampost Theater in Cedar Falls, and in May we play at Mojo’s in Davenport on the 8th and at the Lincoln Wine Bar in Mt. Vernon on the 21st. It’s shaping up to be a fun year for us.
Well, maybe we’ll see you at camp this weekend. If not, hopefully soon at another show.

Tomorrow from noon until 1:00 we’ll be performing in the John Colloton Pavilion Atrium at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. So, if you happen to be roaming the labyrinthine halls of UIHC, please stop by, take a little break, and enjoy some music.

Our next show is coming up this Friday night at the Java House in downtown Iowa City. If you’re not familiar with the Java House, this would be a good time to familiarize yourself. They serve the best brewed coffee I’ve had anywhere, along with a full menu of various coffee drinks, teas, and much more, almost none of which I’ve actually tried (I’m a regular ol’ coffee guy–their American Gothic and organic Peruvian Dark are my personal favorites), and a nice assortment of baked goodies. And it’s all served in a quiet, cozy atmostphere, full of overstuffed couches, comfy chairs and small tables. It’s a great place to kick back, enjoy some coffee and listen to some acoustic music.
Our friend Sara Kay will start things off at 8:00, and we go on at about 9:00. It should be a fun night. Hope you can make it.

Our period of hibernation has passed. This Sunday we’ll shake the snow off, warm up the ol’ pipes and share some tunes with the good folks at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids. The show is part of Gloria Dei’s 50th anniversary celebration, and they’ll have coffee and tasty baked goods available for purchase. The show’s at 3:00.
And that’s not all! On Friday, February 12, we’ll be back at the Java House in downtown Iowa City. Our friend Sara Kay will open the show for us at 8:00, and we’ll take over around 9:00 or so. Not surprisingly, the Java House will also have coffee and tasty baked goods available for purchase.
If you’ve checked out our calendar recently, then you know that we have several other shows coming up as well, including a return to EWALU Bible Camp to lead the junior high Dirty Feet Retreat in March.
Lots of chances to catch a show in late winter/early spring (and more will be added), so we hope to see you at a show (or two) soon.
